If you’ve ever daydreamed about a vacation spot right on the water, then look no further, because it does not get any better than San Alfonso del Mar, Crystal Lagoons® first crystalline amenity. This astounding private condo complex in Algarrobo, Chile, about 60 miles west of Santiago, basically has a view of two coasts at once as it directly overlooks the Pacific Ocean, but also boasts what was once the world’s largest crystalline lagoon. This feat was once again highlighted by Delish.com and several other popular online media outlets.

This saltwater man-made amenity, which held the first-ever Guinness world record for largest man-made lagoon between 2007 up until 2015, is the exact same crystal-clear turquoise hue of the sea just beyond it. Its size is truly hard to fathom: The lagoon is over a kilometer long, covers nearly 20 acres in area —equivalent to over 15 football fields. It was developed by Crystal Lagoons, a company founded by Fernando Fischmann, a visionary businessman and biochemist, that has also created several other crystalline lagoons around the world. In fact, the firm has 600 projects in different stages of negotiation, design and construction in over 60 countries.

The lagoon’s sheer size makes it possible to sail in and other water sports and activities are practically endless: kayaking, scuba-diving instruction, all manner of aqua-fitness classes, a waterslide, and more.

Today, the Guinness World Record is held by another of Crystal Lagoons amenities, in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt, which totals 40 acres.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
