Crystal Lagoons Expanding With New Lagoon Amenities Throughout US

28 November, 2018 / News

Debuting in the U.S. this year, man-made crystalline lagoons with Crystal Lagoons® technology are transforming landlocked communities into desirable beachfront property.

Earlier this year, Metro Development Group unveiled a long-awaited, landmark amenity at its Epperson community in Wesley Chapel, Fla. The 7-acre artificial lagoon is the first of its kind in the United States. Suitable for swimming, boating, and other non-motorized water activities, the lagoon is the centerpiece of the community’s amenity village and beachfront area.

While the man-made lagoon from the multinational Crystal Lagoons is a new concept to American home buyers, it won’t be for long. The Epperson project represents the tip of the tidal wave in the trend toward massive water-based amenities: It is one of many such aquatic amenities in the U.S. currently in the planning, design, or construction phase.

The main appeal the lagoons offer is their ability to transform any land asset, even lots in the middle of the desert, into valuable beachfront property, according to Kevin P. Morgan, executive vice president of Crystal Lagoons U.S. This allows developers to create desirable resorts or communities on less-than-desirable tracts of land.

Today’s home buyer is an educated buyer looking for ways to ensure that their investment that will be protected. They want to see real value. Crystal Lagoons amenities help ensure the buyers’ purchase investment because it’s a big differentiator.

Swimming pools have traditionally used high levels of chemicals and mechanical filtration to produce clear water, but this method is neither environmentally friendly nor economically viable for pools larger than 1 acre.

In its man-made water features, Crystal Lagoons utilizes ultrasound waves and micro-biocides to bypass the need for conventional disinfectant and filtration. According to the firm, this patented method produces clearer, safer water than other large-scale filtration technologies.

The disinfectant process is conducted via a series of injectors and water quality sensors installed throughout the lagoon. Monitored by Crystal Lagoons personnel, the injectors apply controlled pulses of micro-biocides at intervals and patterns derived from the growth cycles of local algae and bacteria, disinfecting the lagoon without the need to maintain high levels of chemicals in the water.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
