Crystal Lagoons Moves Forward With Second Lagoon Community in Florida

24 October, 2018 / News

Crystal Lagoons® recently opened its first manmade, crystalline lagoon in Wesley Chapel, in Florida. Known as Epperson, the residential community includes a 1,800-unit project developed by the Metro Development Group, which has become one of the state’s fastest-selling communities, despite being far from the area of greatest development and the density of Tampa´s community.

Anchored by an immense artificial lagoon, the project has enjoyed huge success since construction started, with sales prices going up 5 times during the first 6 weeks of building.

This has had a knock on effect, and similar projects are in the pipeline. One of these projects is Hillsborough County, also in Florida. Construction started at the 1,000-acre property in Wimauma a few months ago. The community known as Southshore Bay will have up to 2,800 homes, about half of them in a private section for ages 55 and older.

“Instead of making the decision to do exclusive active adult or family friendly, this is a really new concept for us, since it includes active adults in a master plan community that’s open for everyone,” said Jen Austin, marketing director for Metro Development Group.

The project includes a massive clubhouse, lap pools, fitness center, but at the heart of the development is a 5.5-acre lagoon. Although work hasn’t started yet on the massive, man-made lagoon, it’s billed as the vacation lifestyle just steps from your front door.

The lagoon at Southshore Bay is expected to be completed in early 2020.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
