Public Access Lagoons Epperson

A year has come and gone since Crystal Lagoons®, the multinational water innovation company, officially inaugurated its first crystalline lagoon in Wesley Chapel, Pasco County, Florida. Just 40 minutes outside of Tampa, the water amenity is part of a large-scale, smart, connected-city with in-home technology aimed at keeping residents away from the hospital.

Epperson, as the Wesley Chapel neighborhood is called, hosts important health wellness and medical technology had previously been spotlighted by Tampa Bay Times and Fox News TV station for its avant-garde features, including the country’s fastest internet speeds. The news program described the development as an “affordable Silicon Valley”.

Tampa Bay News spotlights how, Crystal Lagoons and Metro Development Group, the real estate developer behind the project, developed a 7-acre crystalline amenity, aimed at helping residents live healthier lives. The lagoon, which anchors the residential development, not only brings beach life to resident’s doorsteps, but has recently opened as a Public Access Lagoon (PAL) meaning the general public can also enjoy the lagoon via a ticketed entry.

Epperson is already considered a “connected city” with its built-in “ultrafi” — making it the first residential community with up to one gigabit of high-speed data and internet inside every home, while solar lights line the streets.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
