24 August, 2018 / News

A new Crystal Lagoons® project will open its doors in 2019, this time in Phuket, the iconic tourist destination in Thailand. Until now, Phuket was known for its spectacular sea and sand, however, there is an ever increasing demand for inland entertainment alternatives, converting it into a strategically located destination, states the media outlet specialised in tourism, Travel Communication.

Phuket’s tourism industry will be receive a boost with the unveiling of Blue Tree Phuket, a multi-dimensional destination waterpark and entertainment complex set, along with a central element that will be a lagoon with Crystal Lagoons technology. The lagoon will be 17,000-square-metre in size.

The project, which will receive 40 million dollars in investment, is  within easy reach of the coast and will be the island’s first international-standard, fully integrated waterpark and family entertainment complex, placing it at the cutting-edge of a growing demand for tourism on the island.

The artificial lagoon, built by Crystal Lagoons (which recently opened a mega project in Florida, the world capital for water attractions for families, is flanked by white sand beaches and offers offers an aquatic playground for family-friendly and adrenaline-driven activities such as a Slip N Fly, water slides, splash zone and even cliff jumping.

The state-of-the-art technology used by Crystal Lagoons will allow Blue Tree to use up to 100 times fewer chemicals and 50 times less energy than conventional swimming pool systems to keep the water clear.

The complex will include a mix of retail, restaurants, water parks, beach clubs, as well as health and fitness amenities.

According to Michael Ayling, former Managing Director of Laguna Phuket, “the tourism market in Phuket has changed considerably in the last 10 years. We now see strong demand for inland attractions driven by Thai families,” he said.

Blue Tree Phuket will offer a water and entertainment park, a four-story vertical Beach Club, Fitness Zone, Kid’s Club and multiple retail spaces. In addition, 17 restaurants and food outlets will cater to all tastes and budgets, centered around the complex’s star attraction: Blue Tree Lagoon.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
