Crystal Lagoons’ Worldwide Success

The story behind Crystal Lagoons’ worldwide success was the main feature posted by news portal Contenidos 123. Only seven years after its founding, Crystal Lagoons currently has a folder with 300 urban, tourist, public and industrial projects around the world, in different stages of development in 60 countries in the five continents. The technology is patented in 160 countries and it’s also revolutionizing worldwide energy and water production, with its applications for the sustainable cooling of industrial and thermoelectric plants, and low cost water desalination and purification.

The publication stresses the innovation’s sustainability and says that San Alfonso del Mar, the company’s first crystalline lagoon project, successfully broke all sales forecasts and records. These giant crystalline lagoons only need water to compensate for evaporation and have a water consumption level approximately equivalent to half a park and up to 30 times lower than a golf course. The lagoons use up to 100 times less chemicals than traditional swimming pool and potable water disinfection systems and only 2% of the energy required by conventional filtering technologies.

A measure of this meteoric worldwide success was the evaluation made by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) only one and a half years after the foundation of Crystal Lagoons. The prestigious consulting firm estimated that in the next 15 years there will be 18 thousand crystalline lagoons worldwide and it valued Crystal Lagoons in US$ 1,800 million.

Crystal Lagoons’ international expansion is not stopping. By late 2015 the multinational will have 15 offices in the five continents. The company currently has offices in the United States, United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Netherlands and Spain, and will open offices in Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Turkey, Russia and China.
