Oman looking to develop sustainable tourism with Crystal Lagoons

20 June, 2018 / News

U.A.E. media outlets have recently reported on important efforts being made by Oman authorities to boost sustainable tourism with new infrastructure projects, and Crystal Lagoons® is one of the main players.

The multinational water-innovation company will build in Oman one of their main Middle East projects: a five-hectare man-made lagoon that will become the core feature of Al Nakheel (ITC). The latter is the result of a deal made with Palm’s Beach Company. The works on the lagoon will start during the first quarter of the year.

The project will supplement Wilayat of Barka as an important touristic destiny, being a place that already attracts plenty of tourists coming from the capital, Muscat.

In Oman, Crystal Lagoons technology will also be used by a 50-hectare multimillion dollar mix-use project, in partnership with Alargan Towell Investment Company. The project will feature a 40-hectare manmade lagoon as main attraction, apart from three hotels, apartments units, shopping areas and a series of other amenities.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
