South Africa’s Largest Developer Attributes Sales Success To Crystal Lagoons Amenity

Despite South Africa’s current slow economy, the country’s largest developer, Balwin, has attributed the sales success of one of its main developments to Crystal Lagoons® amenity.

Balwin’s CEO Steve Brookes said in an interview with the national daily newspaper, Business Day, that he was happy with the company’s achievements and that its best sales performance was achieved at The Blyde, Pretoria, highlighting Crystal Lagoons as a decisive factor.

“Sales rates are significantly exceeding the development average of approximately 25 apartments per month. The success of The Blyde is largely as a result of the opening of the Crystal Lagoons amenity during 2018, the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. We are very proud of this initiative and look forward to many more opportunities to emulate this success”, said Brookes.

A water-lover’s paradise, this one-of-a-kind development incorporates a 4-acre crystalline lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons technology in which residents can swim, go kayaking, paddle-boarding and sailing. The condo complex opened towards the end of 2018, and was a huge success as of day one.

Water usage at The Blyde

Regional Director at the multinational water innovation company, Alastair Sinclair says, “A big positive for projects in South Africa is that the water usage of a crystalline lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons technology has far less impact than that of a park or golf course. Crystal Lagoons technology addresses the concerns surrounding the use of water and the energy needed to maintain conventional swimming pools. Furthermore, our amenities can use any type of water.”
