US$ 1 Billion Redevelopment For Collin Creek Mall May Include Crystal Lagoons Amenity

26 April, 2019 / News

While many of Crystal Lagoons® projects are part of mixed-use developments (Epperson, Balmoral, Windsong Ranch, to name just a few in the U.S.), the multi-national is now entering a new ambitious business model: injecting new life into struggling shopping centers with its Public Access Lagoons (PAL) concept.

Examples of this can be appreciated throughout the U.S., one in particular being Collin Creek Mall in Plano, Dallas.

The Plano City Council has voted unanimously to grant final approval for Centurion American Development Group’s US$1 billion plan to redevelop Collin Creek Mall into a mixed-use project with housing, entertainment and office space. The redevelopment plans also include a clear turquoise lagoon with Crystal Lagoons technology as a central piece.

The mall, which opened in 1981, has seen a slow demise over the last decade. It changed ownership several times before Centurion American worked to redevelop it. The 100-acre project on U.S. Highway 75 would also include a Crystal Lagoons water feature, retail and entertainment venues, and a luxury hotel.

A big chunk of the 37-year-old shopping mall will be demolished. Remaining portions will be converted into an open-air retail atrium, while the redevelopment will have 2,300 apartments, along with houses and senior living units. There will be almost 9 acres of parks and 1.6 miles of hiking trails.

The project could break ground as soon as July and could be complete by the end of 2021 should the development go to plan.

PALs set to revolutionize city life

The firm is currently changing the way we live in cities and is focused on expanding its PAL, which are propelling a new generation of urban recreational amenities that will set a new standard for public and leisure spaces in the near future.

As a concept, PALs are open to the general public and are innovative in that they take our tropical turquoise lagoons beyond the private-accessed residential market to new places such as public parks, retail centers, golf courses, race tracks. They are accessed by a ticketed entry, and bring holiday destinations to people’s doorsteps.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
