Largest Manmade Lagoon in the U.S. to Open at Beachwalk Using Crystal Lagoons Technology

12 February, 2018 / News

After the unprecedented success of its first project ground breaking, Crystal Lagoons US, Corp. is about to open its second man-made lagoon in the U.S., currently the largest in the country. The 14-acre pristine lagoon is part of Beachwalk, a mixed-use master-planned community in St. John’s County, Florida, in partnership with Twin Creeks Development. Known for creating the “World’s Top Amenity,” Crystal Lagoons®, a multinational water innovation company, has developed a concept and technology to create a large-scale, Caribbean-style beachfront recreational location anywhere in the world at very low construction and maintenance costs. The company’s man-made lagoons are the ideal paradise for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing in a safe and fun environment.

“We are excited to open our largest man-made lagoon in the U.S.,” said Chris Souza, Regional Director, Crystal Lagoons U.S. East “The developer is using the clear turquoise lagoon to create a vibrant waterfront dining and retail experience that will excite the community and attract tourists and visitors alike.”

Encompassing 900 acres, Beachwalk features 1,000 homes and a 100,000 square foot retail village that provides a waterfront dining and shopping experience.

The man-made lagoon is the centerpiece of the community and is surrounded by white sand beaches, including a private beach club on the north shore of the lagoon. The beach club includes a restaurant, several bars, a fitness center, an 18-hole miniature golf course, and Laguna Dog – a 15,000 square foot splash water park for the dogs of the community. There are plenty of amenities for the residents of the community, including beach chairs and umbrellas, paddleboard rental, and more.

“We are looking forward to bringing Beachwalk to the residents of St. Johns County,” said John Kinsey, Twin Creeks Development.  “We know this world-class amenity and its beautiful turquoise waters will not only add value to our exciting project, but will draw residents and visitors to enjoy its waterfront dining, shopping, recreation, relaxation and much more.”

Unprecedented Real Estate Success

Beachwalk joins other real estate developments underway that will feature one of the first projects of Crystal Lagoons in the U.S., including Epperson, a MetroPlaces Community by Metro Development Group. Because of the lifestyle offered by the man-made lagoon, the community is enjoying superior pricing power and started with a waitlist of 2,200 homebuyers. It has attracted an unprecedented response from homebuyers, surpassing nearby competing communities, and selling homes at much higher prices.

Crystal Lagoons is revolutionizing the real estate industry globally.  Crystal Lagoons U.S. Corp has announced 16 man-made lagoons in the U.S. Worldwide Crystal Lagoons has a portfolio of more than 600 projects, in different stages of development and negotiation in 60 countries.

Environmentally Sustainable Amenity

The science behind Crystal Lagoons means they use less water than golf courses, and are more environmentally sustainable. This is especially true in rain-intensive states like Florida – where the lagoons can be refilled with direct rainwater and therefore practically do not require make-up water to compensate for evaporation.  In fact, Crystal Lagoons uses 30 times less water than a typical 18-hole golf course and 50 percent less water than a park of the same size. The man-made lagoons can use fresh, salt, and brackish water.  Crystal Lagoons technology utilizes disinfection pulses using up to 100 times less chemicals than swimming pools and also employs ultrasonic filtration using up to 50 times less energy than conventional filtration systems. The technology earned patent protection from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Fast-Track Program for Green Technologies, which provides advancement in sustainability.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size crystal clear lagoons at very low costs.
